1. Driving
I follow safe driving rules
- I always wear my seat belt.
- I do not exceed the speed limit and I reduce my speed according to road conditions.
- I do not use phones or operate devices while driving.
- I do not drive or work under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- I am fit, rested and fully alert while driving.
- Before setting off, I inspect my vehicle and plan my journey.
2. Use of personal protective equipment
I protect my life by using the right PPE for each task
- I check which PPE is mandatory for the activity before starting.
- I inspect all my PPE to make sure it is in good condition and fit for use.
- I always wear the required PPE and adjust it correctly.
- I immediately replace any PPE that is defective or does not meet the requirements.
- I stop work if any PPE critical to performing the task safely is missing.
3. Stop Work
I stop the task when it is not safe to continue
- I stop work immediately in the event of any unsafe condition or change in the situation.
- I communicate the reason for the Stop Work to the team and to the person in charge of the activity.
- I do not resume the task until the risks have been assessed and controlled.
- I support and respect the right of anyone on the team to call a Stop Work.
- I continuously reassess the surroundings to make sure safe conditions are maintained.
4. Line of fire
I keep myself and others out of the line of fire
- I position myself to avoid moving objects, vehicles and objects that could fall.
- I set up and respect barriers and exclusion zones.
- I take steps to secure loose objects and report potential falling objects.
5. Work permits
I work with a valid permit when required
- I have confirmed whether a permit is required.
- I am authorised to carry out the work.
- I understand the permit.
- I have confirmed that hazards are controlled and that it is safe to start.
- I stop and reassess if conditions change.
6. Energy isolation
I verify isolation and zero energy before work begins
- I have identified all energy sources.
- I confirm that hazardous energy sources have been isolated, locked and tagged.
- I have checked that there is no energy and verified the presence of residual or stored energy.
7. Lifting
I plan lifting operations and control the area
- I confirm that the equipment and the load have been inspected and are fit for use.
- I only operate equipment I am qualified to use.
- I set up and respect barriers and exclusion zones.
- I never walk under a suspended load.
8. Working at height
I protect myself against falls when working at height
- I inspect my fall protection equipment before using it.
- I secure tools and work materials to prevent objects from falling.
- I stay 100% tied off to approved anchor points when outside a protected area.
9. Hot work
I control flammable materials and ignition sources
- I identify and control ignition sources.
- Before starting any hot work, I confirm that flammable material has been removed or isolated, obtain authorisation and check that the equipment to be used is in good condition.
- I use screens to prevent the projection of hot particles and radiation.
- I keep firefighting equipment available and close to the work area.
10. Excavations
I ensure a safe excavation before and during the work
- I do not start excavation work without a risk assessment and the corresponding authorisation.
- I mark off and protect the excavation to prevent people or objects from falling in.
- I make sure there is a safe escape route for everyone.
